Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

If you’re interested in our services, please email us at ferrets@quiddity.cc. We’ll then set up an appointment for a consultation at the location of your choosing, usually your home.

What’s the process like for making a custom scrapbook?

At your consultation, we’ll discuss what sort of scrapbook you’d like. We’ll look at samples of scrapbook pages and your pictures to decide how your scrapbook will look. You’ll decide how many pictures you’d like to use, and from there, we’ll determine what size scrapbook you’d like. You can purchase your own scrapbook or give us an idea of what you’d like, and we can make the purchase for you. If you have photographs that you don’t want resized or permanently adhered to your scrapbook pages, we’ll make a note of it at that time. Any other questions or needs you have at that time will be addressed. At the consultation, we’ll discuss which Scrapbook Plan you’d like, and a cost for the project will be determined.

When we receive your deposit of 50% of the total cost of the project, work can begin. After the first few pages have been designed, you’ll receive pictures of them to approve or modify. Depending on our prior arrangements, you may also receive pictures of other pages as they’re ready. After reviewing the final pages, we’ll drop off or mail you your scrapbook, once the rest of the payment has been received.

What is journaling? Do you do it for me?

Journaling is the most important part of scrapbooking. Journaling tells the who, what, where, why, and when of your photos – in other words, the story behind them. A picture of a delighted little girl is a nice picture, but it becomes so much more when you know that she’s delighted because she’s just seen an elephant for the first time. Because journaling is so personal, we cannot do it for you. We can leave spaces blank for you to handwrite your journaling (we’ll provide an archival pen), or we can create computer-generated journaling with the text you provide. If you’re having trouble writing, please let us know and we can help you with the composition. Likewise, we can also provide you with quotes or poems to use for an additional fee.

Do I need to organize my photos?

Organizing your photos makes the initial consultation much easier. Please group photos chronologically or by event and place them into envelopes. If you’re unsure which photos to include, we can help you choose during the consultation. If you need extensive help sorting and choosing your photos, an additional fee of $10 per hour will be charged.

How long does it take for my project to be completed?

Digital photo editing takes a day or two per picture, depending on the complexity. Photo organizing can take a week or two depending on how many photos you have. Pre-made scrapbooks will be completed in about two weeks. Custom scrapbooks can take anywhere from two to four weeks, depending on the level of work involved.

Do I have to order a whole scrapbook, or can I just order a few pages?

You can order as much or as little as you like. Single pages will be completed in a day or two, once we have all materials.

Do you offer discounts if I provide my own supplies?

Discounts may be determined on a case by case basis. The only supplies we’ll consider using for your pages are quality, pre-made kits you can buy at craft/scrapbooking stores. It is difficult to plan out a layout if we do not have access to a full range of scrapbooking supplies. Another option is to choose a product line and do the whole scrapbook in coordinating materials. A small discount will be given if you decide to do this, but we will purchase the supplies we need, rather than have you supply them. If you’re interested in that option, please mention it during your consultation so we can prepare a range of products for you to choose from.

I don’t live near you. Can I still use your services?

Of course. We can arrange consultations and communication through phone, email or AOL instant messaging. All postage costs from us to you will be included in your bill. Photo organizing is not available to non-local clients.

What if I’m not satisfied, or want to cancel my order?

We’ll rework any project to your satisfaction, within reason. Due to the cost of supplies and time involved, we cannot issue refunds based on creative differences. If you decide to cancel a project that has already been worked on, your deposit will be refunded minus the cost of the pages already completed. If the cost of the pages already completed exceeds the deposit, materials will be held until we receive payment for work done.
